OBJETIVO(S)

The general objective on this project will be that of obtaining the terms needed in the computation of supermembrane scattering amplitudes in at least the simplest case of tree level. In order to full this, one must understand the relationship of integrated 6 supermembrane vextex operators with superstring vertex operators

RESUMEN

The discovery of S-duality in eld theory, which was later applied to string theory, led to a clearer view of the interlink between the ve known superstring theories (Type I, Type IIA, Type IIB, Heterotic SO(32) and Heterotic E8 - E8) and supergravity in higher dimensions. All this led to a conjecture of a bigger theory at 11 dimensions which could give origin to any of the ve string theories after a dimensional reduction of the 11th coordinate. This theory was called M-theory, due in part to the conjecture that the fundamental object of this theory is a super-membrane in 11 dimensions. In this research plan, the quantization of the action for this extended object is pursued as a step towards the understanding of its role in the M-theory program. Taking into account a prior work of Prof. Berkovits (18), the missing terms toward the understanding of the correct form of the scattering amplitudes for this object will be obtained, at least for the simplest case of a tree level amplitude.
