Designer and manufacturer of medical equipment in hospitals. Designer and manufacturer of equipment for measuring physical parameters. Designer of software related to the physical implementation. A person engaged in processes of adaptation and modernization of equipment, based on new technologies. Entrepreneurs. Researcher and consultant. University Professor.

Master in Teaching Mathematics

Objectives Study specific mathematics topics that are required both in high school and in the early college levels and that will allow the teacher to reply adequately when faced with teaching some of them. Reflect on the different methodologies and pedagogical practices in teaching mathematics, using both the existing literature and the students' own experience. To promote in students the opportunity to develop as a researcher either in a specific area of mathematics or mathematics education. This can be done individually through the development of a research paper side by side with a research tutor or in research groups within the academic community. Professional Profile The Master in Teaching Mathematics will be able to perform efficiently in: As an active member of  research groups. Use appropriately the available technology options to improve the teaching-learning process. Develop a critical mind and a capacity for analysis and synthesis, with in an open mind towards the changes of the educational process Apply science to solve specific problems. As a professional, stand out for their epistemological, scientific and practical understanding of the teaching aspects that determine their work as an educator to adapt to each specific situation while learning the various techniques and teaching methods in an attempt to improve teaching and learning processes involved in these situations. Mathematics and Physics Degree

To promote educational research in basic sciences. Develop disciplinary training programs aimed at all faculty members of the Mathematics and Physics Department. Promote forums for the creation and innovation of new teaching strategies for teaching Mathematics and Physics. Define and promote research lines in coordination with the departments of other faculties. Train educators with a sense of social responsibility, skills and motivation to become leaders of this country. Professional Profile The Basic Sciences Faculty of the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira seeks to train graduates in Mathematics and Physics as well rounded human beings with a research, educational and scientific capability, which may serve primarily as educators of Elementary and Middle and High School education in the areas of mathematics and Physics; Researchers of social and educational processes;, Leaders and agents that carry out social changes;  Educators with capacity to promote and develop innovations in teaching mathematics and physics. For the performance of its duties it is necessary to acquire and develop disciplinary, interdisciplinary, social, research and communication skills. Occupational Profile The graduate in Mathematics and Physics is qualified to perform the following tasks: Teach. Develop Math and Physics programs. Design, develop and evaluate curriculum projects in mathematics and physics. Coordinate and encourage learning activities for mathematics and physics. Induce leadership to the students so they learn tolerance, democracy and free discretion. In order for the Mathematics and Physics graduate to perform these tasks he/she must learn how to: learn, be, do, research, live, teach and learn by doing. In other words, he/she shall:  Have theoretical and practical mastery of the basic sciences. Possess knowledge in curriculum planning and educational administration.  Prove domain of the knowledge and learning theories.  Have pedagogical and research skills and knowledge.

Mission: To generate and disseminate knowledge in Basic Sciences and contribute to regional and national scientific development, by promoting research, training of professionals who are capable of solving problems in business, and innovation in learning-teaching processes.
