Electrical Technology

Professional Profile Perform the Electrical Technology in the framework of an integrated concept defined by the set of actions conducive to technological, industrial, and commercial developments. To act responsibly in its area of ??competence, with humanistic sense and within the accepted ethical standards in the profession. Maintain a critical attitude based on good training that allows to analyze, understand and contribute to solving problems related to the exercise of the profession Communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, taking into account the diversity and limitations that may difficult the communication with non-experts within the community. To act with social rationality and responsibility in relation to the use and management of resources. Adequately use IT tools to enhance the access to information and lifelong learning. Find the constant personal and professional growth, acquiring methodologies for self-evaluation and updating of knowledge, in order to act competently in the industrial environment. Introduction The Electrical Technology Program is a part of the Faculty of Technology. It was created by the agreement number 20 of November 21, 1961 of the Superior Council of the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira and was authorized to begin operating by the agreement Number 10 of February 28, 1962, issued by the Administrative Committee of the Colombian Association of Universities. The Electrical Technology Program began operating the first half of 1966 and is accredited by the Ministry of Education by resolution 1819 of August 4, 2003 for a period of five years. Mission Within the institutional framework, the Electrical Technology program educates and promotes its learners through the application of current methods of learning and by teaching innovative technologies, so as to meet the industrial and socio-economic needs in an environment of globalization Vision The program will be widely recognized as a center of academic, research and extension aimed at proposing and implementing innovative interdisciplinary projects that allow to solve scientific and technological problems of regional and national interest in areas related to electrical power, electronics, communications and automation and control systems, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and following the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and the scientific community. Objectives General Objective Educate an overall professional who is able to apply, adapt and update the technology systems of: electric power, automation, control, communications and electronics, which contribute to economic and social development, both regionally and nationally.   Specific Objectives Provide the basic scientific knowledge that provides the concepts and tools needed for understanding the technique, technology and science. Provide training through a comprehensive educational theory - practical process. Development of social and humanistic training, through attitudes and values ??of social harmony. Provide solutions to the production processes. Strengthen the bond between the future professional and the business and industrial environment. Maintain outreach programs to enhance lifelong learning and the institutional link with graduates. Perform self-evaluation and continuous improvement processes, to maintain the quality profiles established in the State re-accreditation process.

Mission The Faculty of Technology is an academic community attached to the UTP, which develops and provides training services of high quality for undergraduate and postgraduate students, to contribute to the technological advancement of the production activity and achieve institutional strengthening and leadership through the integration and coordination with other faculties and departments of the University. The Chemical Technology program is a program accredited by the resolution 708 of February 19th 2007, issued by the Ministry of Education. Specialization in Automotive Mechanical

Objectives The Specialization in Automotive Mechanical program seeks to train the technologist or engineer in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial and related branches to maintain and automotive equipment while working effectively and creating solutions and modernization. Professional Profile The Specialization in Automotive Mechanical graduate will be able to access the labor market, based on knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during the course, scheduling specific repair tasks, coordinating the maintenance of motor vehicles, controlling and verifying the automotive repair, selecting and training the service personnel, using techniques for handling auto-parts inventory, managing the technical service on automobiles, analyzing the characteristics of items and equipment to meet the requirements of manufacturers, applying the appropriate information for the selection of equipment and auto parts for a vehicle.

Specialization in Business Logistics

General Objective Train specialists in Business Logistics that are able to analyze different types of problems that arise in logistics systems and flows of materials and information inherent to them, dealing with appropriate techniques the subsystems of procurement, production and distribution, providing a better level of service to customers. Specific Objectives Analyze the theoretical foundations of strategic management in logistics and analyze the support tools to evaluate and improve the subsystems of procurement, production and distribution, while promoting the development of new operational skills, methods and procedures necessary for the proper performance of the supply chain. Develop a Strategic Vision of logistics, the scope of its reach and its impact on economic performance; as well as the management tools to optimize the results of logistics management, in order to maximize the added value of the company Gain the knowledge to have comprehensive vision of logistics management that improves the process of decision making. Professional Profile The Specialization program in Business Logistics is designed for professionals engaged in activities related to operations management and business logistics and that are interested in updating their professional profile in the different aspects related to logistics. The applications made by professionals in Business Administration and related will be considered by the Curriculum Committee of the program, which will decide if leveling courses are needed.

Chemistry Technology

Mission The School of Chemistry is a center for training professionals with high academic and research level in science and technology that provides chemical analysis services in soil, food, water and other agricultural and industrial products to the regional and national community and in certified laboratories, including providing professional advice. Vision   Create own multidisciplinary research groups that enable undergraduate and postgraduate students to train with high quality and as leaders who may be involved in regional, national and international environments and that seek benefits that contribute to the country's economy, in improving people's lives and in the creation of industry, while having an awareness of environmental preservation. Objectives  General Objective Educate a high level professional who is able to analyze, implement, transfer, optimize and evaluate quality control methods used in the productive and service sectors related to the chemical industry; while being actively engaged in the production process and the creation, transfer and adaptation of technology, in order to perform properly in the chemical industry and assist in its development. Specific Objectives 1. Train people with the following characteristics: With enough scientific and theoretical bases that can be used in the different forms of the Chemical Industry. Trained to perform technical and administrative work in Industrial Quality Control. With the capacity to take the lead and participate in the planning and design of chemical laboratories. That can implement, coordinate, control and monitor planned work processes and operations of the Chemical Industry. Contribute to the overall student training to educate ethical professionals that are aware of their responsibilities to society. Provide enough research and extension components to develop specific interdisciplinary projects that solve technological problems of the environment, contributing to the recognition of the Faculty of Technology as a center of training and technological innovation. Professional Profile  Understand the Professional Profile as the knowledge acquired by the Chemical Technologist of the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira that enables him/her to perform all activities outlined in the Occupational Profile. The Chemical Technologist of the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira requires the following sets of knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve the professional identity that the program and the Occupational Profile indicate. Knowledge  Scientific Basis: Provide a set of knowledge on Basic Science to provide basic knowledge to start the student in understanding the phenomena, principles, laws and methods of science to help him/her manage, test and apply in the field of Specific Technologies. Specific Technology Training: Provides a set of knowledge, abilities and skills applied to problem solving that give identity to the Chemical Technologist. Mechanical Technology

Introduction Mechanical Technology is the area of engineering that provides knowledge, skills and abilities for the study, analysis and application of methods of design, operation and maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment needed in the production of goods and services. Mission Contribute to the development of science and technology, through teaching, research and outreach; while educating professionals with analytical skills to implement the laws of physics and technological developments in the design, operation and maintenance of industrial equipment, putting them to the service of social environment, improving the quality of life. Vision The Mechanical Technology program will be a center for development and research in the fields of mechanics, manufacturing processes and application of materials; leader in the training of professional with skills and abilities, which create development processes and innovate. Objectives Assume research as a fundamental condition to consolidate as a program of academic excellence. Link the program to actions in its environment that lead to regional development, while generating in turn a strong bond between the region and the University. Perform an administrative modernization process which leads to scenarios of flexible, timely, efficient and participatory decisions. Laboratories The program has several laboratories that strengthen the education of technologists, including: Laboratory of machine tools, CNC. Laboratory of Mechatronics and models Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engines, Laboratory of Injection and Science of the Materials. Laboratory of Dimensional Metrology. Professional Profile The graduate will have knowledge: Scientific: particularly in basic training, basic professional training, social and humanistic education; vocational, mathematical, physical and spatial training Technological: specific (mechanical) in the areas of workshops and laboratories, Solids, Thermal and Fluids. Social-Humanistic: in terms of research, administration, recreation and interpersonal relationships. Know-how (skills) Intellectual: Analysis of operations, technical language comprehension, synthesis (generation of alternative designs) and applications. Operational: Mechanical assembly and maintenance, manufacturing processes, instrument calibration, personnel management, mechanical design, quality inspection of raw materials and machinery selection and operation. Attitudinal: Efficiency when involved in operations, with an ecological vision and understanding of the surrounding context and contributing to the maintenance of a climate of respect and understanding with his/her partners. Industrial Technology

Introduction: The Industrial Technology program is a part of the Faculty of Technology of the UTP and it is a response to the growing technological development. Mission The Industrial Technology is an academic program which is part of the Faculty of Technology of the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira, whose Mission is: The construction, alteration, dissemination and application of technological knowledge articulated in the scientific, humanistic and artistic for the improvement of society with priority in the region, with an emphasis on the management of economic production processes. Vision By 2010, the Industrial Technology will have formed and consolidated research groups organized in defined academic centers, which will help technology training at different levels, and technological and economic development in their area of ??influence. Objectives  General Objective The following Objectives are suggested: "Educate professionals, able to manage resources in an optimal way in the production of goods and services to increase productivity without harming the environment." The Industrial Technologist must also possess: Leadership skills to produce constructive change and overcome resistance to it. Creativity to come up with new and better solutions. Professional Technician in Mechatronics

Professional Profile The Professional Technician in Mechatronics should be able to: Identify technical and technological artifacts (in harmony with the environment) for the automation of the industry. Install and handle high precision products, controlled by programmable electronic devices that operate under different conditions. Maintain, repair, install and select technical means of automation. Install, operate, repair and maintain mechatronic systems of limited technical complexity. Use low and high level software, as well as the ones for specific purposes. Use computer systems related to its line of action. Participate in the operation and maintenance of industrial automatic control systems. Operate and maintain automation equipment, training and other devices. Operate mechanisms with kinematic configurations such as manipulators with different degrees of freedom, robots, intelligent wheelchairs, artificial limbs for disabled people and other systems with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence. Operate and maintain mechatronic devices applied to agriculture processes and especially to the agro-industrial process of coffee, banana, blackberry and naranjilla.  Create his/her own company based on a product or process that is easily inserted within the productive chain of the region. Contribute to the development of culture preserving human ??, social, ethical and moral values.  Professional Profile The Professional Technician in Mechatronics of the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira will be able to develop professionally in the industry in the identification, installation, handling and maintenance of equipment, industrial processes and agribusiness in the region and country. Professional Profile Deal with problem solving in the Chemical Industry. Develop new products and / or improve them by the management of research processes. Manage the factory through personnel management, production data, quality information and maintenance programs. Record. Objectives General Objective The Industrial Management program seeks to contribute to industrial development in the region by training professionals capable of self-managing and of carrying out industrial projects; with a reflective attitude towards the problems associated with this particular field of administration. Specific Objectives Encourage the development of skills to identify business opportunities. Provide appropriate tools for decision making in both the general administration as in the management of production. Develop research capacity by providing theoretical and practical confrontation in different program areas. Be a professional that makes good use of the resources of the organization, both in the field of general administration and of production. Train for the analysis of human behavior and their reactions to different management styles in order to avoid conflict and create an organizational climate that leads to creative work. Develop skills to evaluate investment projects financially. Develop the capacity for entrepreneurship.   Professional Profile Manage the entire production system. Manage the whole procurement process of major materials and accessories that the company requires for its production. Manage inventory of physical resources that the company requires. Manage human resources. Manage the financial resources required by the company. Develop and evaluate industrial projects. Lead information processes related to the production system of the company. Interpret accounting financial information and prepare and manage budgets. Collaborate in the implementation of the audit process which is considered appropriate for the company. Plan and control operations with emphasis on relating the predictions of demand with inventory control, scheduling and production control. Design and manage the logistics system of a company in order to achieve profits of place, time, space, resources and information.
