Mission: The Medicine Program belongs to the Health Sciences Faculty at the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira, and is committed to train professionals at the undergraduate level, focused on the care, dignity and respect for humans.
Vision: By 2015, the Medicine Program of the Health Sciences Faculty at the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira will maintain the highest quality accreditation and will have international recognition.
General Objective: Training Medical Doctors with the ability to confront and effectively manage health and disease situations at an individual, family and community level.
Specific Objectives
- Provide knowledge and clinical skills in diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, that lead to a comprehensive medical professional with the ability to solve individual health problems with a biopsychosocial approach
- Provide knowledge and skills in public health that lead to a medical professional with the ability to solve collective health problems with a biopsychosocial approach through health promotion and disease prevention.
- Provide the means to train a medical professional with reflective thinking and critical of the medical knowledge and of other disciplines.
- Develop strategies to train a medical professional with a sense of self learning, updated, and creative.
- Provide knowledge and skills in research to form a medical professional working in the search for alternative solutions to health problems of the individual, the family and the community.
- Provide means for training medical professionals who can lead and participate in inter and multidisciplinary teams.
- To encourage in the future MD a full respect for the ecosystem and work in a context of sustainable development
- Provide the knowledge to stimulate health educators with the ability to be able to communicate, using educational strategies for promoting health, preventing disease risk factors involved and promote behavior change by helping to improve the quality of life of individuals , families and communities.
