Professional Profile

The Prehospital Care Technologists (PHCT) are persons duly certified by an Accredited Institution to perform the art and science of pre hospital care practice under the medical orientation. The goal is to prevent and reduce mortality and morbidity due to illness or trauma. The Prehospital Care Technologists (PHCT) must provide care to patients in emergency situations in the outpatient environment.

General Objective: To train technologists in emergency medical care, providing theoretical and practical elements to intervene in a qualified manner with a comprehensive view of human beings in their biological, psychological and social development phases to improve health care in the community

Occupation Profile

Emergencies and disasters prehospital care

Performs in an outpatient environment and can work in fire departments, ambulance services, public or private, military, rescue teams, hospitals and civil defense. Must be flexible to change at the site of emergency because the situation can be complex and patient care should be initiated immediately.

Manage programs in emergencies and disasters

The Prehospital Care Technologist will be able to carry out programs to prevent emergencies and disasters in health, educational, public and private facilities. Actively intervenes in disasters and emergencies through risk analysis, advanced intervention of people in emergency situations, redirecting communications, and directing people to the appropriate destinations.

Research. As a member of interdisciplinary teams of health research.

Teaching. On several levels of education in public and private entities and through educational activities to the community or through NGOs.
